Yobo favourite to land Rivers Uniteds top job

According to rumors, the Rivers State government intends to name Joseph Yobo as Rivers United’s general manager.

Okey Kpalukwu is expected to be replaced as the club’s new manager by the former captain of the Super Eagles.

The general manager role has been held by Kpalukwu for more than a decade.

Last season, he helped Rivers United win the Nigeria Premier League for the first time and also helped the team reach the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.

Yobo served as the Super Eagles’ assistant coach in Cameroon at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Everton defender earned 101 caps and competed for the Super Eagles at six Africa Cup of Nations competitions in addition to three FIFA World Cups.
