We never endorsed Kalu for Senate Presidency – ACFSen. Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia, has not received the Arewa Consultative Forum’s (ACF) endorsement as its top choice for the Senate Presidency of the 10th National Assembly.

This was said in a statement made on Monday in Abuja by Alhaji Musa Saidu, a forum participant.

Saidu was responding to a statement sent to Alhaji Yerima Shettima, the president of the Arewa Youth Conservative Forum, AYCF, that purported to show that the ACF had approved Kalu for the job.

Without fear of disagreement, I would want to state that Shettima was not chosen to lead the AYCF at any point in time, and that the ACF does not have a youth wing.

“Everything about it is false.

“Because we have our own procedures, the ACF has not backed Kalu as the next Senate President.

He declared that it was astonishing to hear Shettima beg Sen. Abdulaziz Yari to withdraw from the campaign for the Senate Presidency in favor of Kalu.

The ACF would have wanted that the position be assigned to the North due to its help to President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the Feb. 25 election, according to Saidu, who is also the leader of the Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria.

We can’t only support candidates from other zones for the Senate Presidency because the North gave Tinubu the most votes in the presidential election.

How can we work to elect Tinubu as president before launching a campaign to elect senators from other zones?

“In actuality, the Vice-President position assigned to the North is only like a spare tire; everyone in Nigeria is aware of its low value.

“Since the North West gave Tinubu the highest number of votes, then it should be given the Senate Presidency, the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is too small for the zone,” he claimed.

“Giving the North the Senate Presidency of the 10th National Assembly is appropriate because it is retribution time for the North,” Saidu continued.

Sen. Abdulaziz Yari ought to be supported for the position, and the North ought to be given consideration for the Senate presidency, according to fairness and justice.
