Transfer: Why I signed Onana for Man Utd – Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, gave an explanation for why he acquired Andre Onana from Inter Milan this summer.

The Cameroonian has all the attributes necessary to advance Man United, according to Ten Hag.

Onana officially signed a five-year contract with an additional one-year option with Man United on Thursday in a £47 million deal from Inter.

The 27-year-old steps in for David de Gea, who departed the Red Devils after 12 years when his contract expired in July.

According to Ten Hag, who was reported by Metro UK, “clean sheets are always the most important for a keeper, and he is not doing that on his own.”

“But modern football also calls for strong outplaying from the back, and Andre [Onana] possesses that quality. Because you require both and must cover both regions, we are naturally glad.

“I believe in his personality as much as his physical presence. He will support the team and assist the squad advance because he is so driven to succeed and win trophies.
