President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sorrow over the passing of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of Daar Communications and owner of African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower.
Dokpesi passed away on Monday in a hospital in Abuja.
The president acknowledged the media mogul’s passing as a major loss for both Nigeria and its media business in a statement sent from his office Monday night.
“High Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s passing is a setback for the media sector, where he pioneered private broadcasting. His innovative investment in the sector serves as an example for many people who come after him.
“Dokpesi and his enormous contributions to the media landscape must be prominently acknowledged in any history of the development of the Nigerian media business.
For this enormous loss, he stated, “I extend my sincere condolences to the management and staff of DAAR Communications and the family of the late media entrepreneur.”
