Temilade Openiyi, a popular singer from Nigeria, has finally received the plaque for her Grammy.
According to DAILY POST, Tems won the Best Melodica Rap Performance Grammy at the 65th Grammy Awards on February 6, 2023.
She received the honor for her contribution to Drake and Future’s song “Wait For U.”
On Friday, Muyiwa Awoniyi, her manager, announced the plaque’s arrival via his Instagram story.
Without adding a message, he displayed the Grammy prize plaque on his Instagram story.
Tems is the first female performer from Nigeria to receive a Grammy.
She is also the first female artist from Nigeria to receive a Grammy nomination. In the Best Global Performance category last year, she was nominated for her collaboration with Wizkid on the blockbuster song “Essence,” but Pakistan’s Arooj Aftab won.
