Ex-Man City star, Benjamin Mendy breaks silence after being cleared of rape

After Benjamin Mendy, a former defender for Manchester City, was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape at Chester Crown Court on Friday, he issued a statement through his attorney.

Mendy is now free after the Chester Crown Court on Friday exonerated him of all rape-related allegations.

“Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial rather than on the rumor and innuendo that have followed this case since its inception,” the footballer’s attorney said in a statement.

The 28-year-old’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said: “He thanks everyone who has supported him throughout this ordeal and now asks for privacy, so he can start to rebuild his life.”

Mendy was charged with performing sex acts on two women in his £4 million residence.

However, a jury found the former Monaco resident not guilty after deliberating for three hours.
