Evil plans being hatched against me, supporters – Peter Obi raises alarm

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in the recently held presidential election, claimed that “some evil designs were being hatched against him and his supporters.”

In addition to saying that “campaigns of calumny were being perfected to defame his character and diminish his hard-earned integrity in the coming months,” Obi asserted that “efforts will be made to taint his image.”

Obi said that one of the goals of the schemes would be to undermine his support base and confuse the general public in a statement posted on his verified Twitter account on Monday.

He made his statement just after President-elect Bola Tinubu was sworn in on Monday.

Despite their concerns about the state of the polity, the former governor of Anambra State advised Nigerians to maintain peace and adhere to the law.

He pledged that he would never back down from the resolve to collaborate with other like-minded Nigerians to break the nation’s curse of lost opportunities and dashed hopes.

“I am aware that there are some bad plans being made in the upcoming months to harm me and my supporters. There will be an effort to harm my reputation. My reputation is being tarnished and my hard-won integrity is being undermined by smear campaigns.

“These plans are designed to undermine our support base and mislead the general public. No malicious campaign, however, can change the essence of my character or lessen my patriotic devotion to a better Nigeria, according to a portion of his statement.
