President Muhammadu Buhari has authorized the awarding of the Special National Honours Award to 339 Nigerians, including Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity, only hours before handing over power to the next administration.
The Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) met with Shehu and Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice President).
Tijjani Umar, the Permanent Secretary at State House, was also awarded the OON National Honor.
Members of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) were awarded to Bayo Omoboriowo and Sunday Aghaeze, the President’s personal photographers for the eight years of his administration.
Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, MON; Tolani Alli, the Personal Photographer to the Vice President, MFR; Adamu Sambo, an NTA Correspondent; and Emmanuel Anrihi, an NTA Cameraman, MFR, are also on the list of recipients of the National Honours Award for their selfless service to the country.
The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs advised the award recipients to visit the Ministry’s headquarters on Thursday, June 1, 2023 to pick up their certificates and medals.
