The Abia State Government has justified the choice of John Obuh and Nwankwo Kanu to lead Abia Warriors and Enyimba, respectively.
Alex Otti, the governor, revealed that the nomination was based on qualifications and prior performance.
Otti acknowledged that his choice to nominate the pair was influenced by the value of football to his government.
He urged the new hires to support his choice to support the growth of sports in the state.
“The appointments were purely based on competence and track record,” he said.
“This administration places a high value on sports, which is why we picked someone capable of managing both the Enyimba and Abia Warriors football teams.
“The appointees need to understand this and work to advance sports in the state.”
