Ifeoma Onumonu, a striker for Gotham City, is eager to compete for a starting position with the Super Falcons.
At the 2017 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, Onumonu started five of the Super Falcons’ six games.
With experienced attacker Desire Oparanozie and rookie Esther Okoronkwo on the team, things have changed.
The 29-year-old also faces competition from Monday Gift, Asisat Oshoala, and Barcelona Femeni standout Uchenna Kanu.
Onumonu, however, asserted that she is ready for combat.
I’m so thrilled,” she exclaimed to ESPN.
“More than anything, the struggle for a spot sharpens my attention.
“This is going to be my first major international competition because I have never been to a World Cup. I’m preparing for the difficulty because I know it will be there.
