10th Assembly Speakership: Northern group sends message to G7-members over Tajudeen nomination

Nigerian youths have asked candidates running under the auspices of G7 to support Abbas Tajudeen in the interest of the country as the competition to become the next Speaker of the National Assembly heats up.

This request was made by the organization Northern Youth Forum for Good Governance (NYDGG) on Thursday in Abuja.

The call was made in the midst of an internal dispute about Tajudeen’s A.P.P. sponsorship.

The group’s president, Bilal Abdullahi, stressed in his speech that House of Representatives members should put aside their disagreements and support the choice of the party and the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

We would want to use this platform to ask the G7 and other members-elect to understand the reasoning behind the selection of Hon Tajudeen Abass given that he has the support of the President-Elect.

He said, “The APC must remain unified even at the cost of permitting some dramatic outcomes during the elections of major positions in the House of Representatives.

The G7 group consists of candidates for speaker of the House of Representatives.

They include Ahmed Wase, the current deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Betara, the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and Yusuf Gagdi, the chairman of the House Committee on Navy.

Rep. Ado Doguwa, who just withdrew, Sada Soli (APC-Katsina), Sani Jaji (APC-Zamfara), Miriam Onuhoa (APC-Imo), and others.
